Georgia double-murder suspect busted on Staten Island

Akilee Zakee Wilson, 17, will be extradited to Cherokee County, Ga., after cops found him in the Stapleton Houses complex on Gordon St. in Stapleton early Wednesday. He was busted by the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, which includes U.S. marshals and NYPD members.

Cops say Wilson was involved in a wild gunfight between two rival groups in Canton, Ga. on June 25.

“There were a lot of rounds shot that night by both sides of the groups,” Canton Police Chief Mark Mitchell told the Daily News Wednesday. More than 70 bullets were fired in total, and investigators believe Wilson was one of the shooters, Mitchell said.

When the dust settled, police found one man dead in the grass off Crisler St. in Canton, a second wounded in a home, and a third mortally injured in a nearby car.

The third man died on the way to the hospital.

Police in July charged three other men, including the brother of one of the victims, with murder, and a fourth with obstruction of an officer, in connection with the shooting.

Cops are still trying to sort out what led to the shootout.

“Was this drug related? Was this gang related? We are still working to answer these questions before we can relay the exact motive in this crime,” reads a July 30 Canton Police press release.

Mitchell said those questions still remain unanswered.
